Dear fellow creative nomads and seekers of transformative experiences, In a world that often encourages conformity and uniformity, I invite you to embark on an extraordinary journey into the realm of "Space to Be Different" (STBD). This is more than just a concept; it's a transformative odyssey where the boundaries between creator and creation blur, and the process of self-exploration and creative expression become one. The Birth of Space to Be Different: A Nomadic Genesis STBD is a journey born of migration and exploration. It emerged from the collective efforts of individuals like myself and Mirela Kulović. Mirela, with her engineering background, engineered a space that seamlessly blends aesthetics and artistic creativity. Her journey was one of migration, both geographically and artistically, as she navigated the transitions of place and self.
On the other hand, I brought the philosophy of the fluidity of self (FoS) into the mix—a perspective rooted in my own nomadic experiences and a belief in the ever-evolving nature of identity.
My journey was one of constant movement and adaptation, where I discovered that identity is not fixed but a dynamic exploration. Embracing Fluidity of Self and the Quest for Belonging at STBD, we celebrate the philosophy of fluidity of self (FoS), an ideology that recognizes the self as a dynamic, ever-evolving entity, free from the constraints of rigid labels and societal expectations. FoS serves as the compass guiding our collaborative nomadic journey, allowing us to explore the multifaceted nature of identity without judgment or limitation. STBD's philosophy finds its roots in the fundamental human need for belonging—belonging to a space where our unique differences are not only accepted but celebrated. It's a philosophy that emerged from the nomadic journeys of individuals like myself and Mirela Kulović, each with our own distinct experiences and perspectives. For me, FoS is the guiding light, a philosophy that celebrates the ever-changing tapestry of our identities. It's a perspective rooted in my nomadic experiences, a belief that we are not static beings but fluid souls constantly evolving and adapting. In this collaboration, STBD and FoS harmoniously coexist, creating a space where belonging and self-exploration go hand in hand.
Participatory Art:
The Fusion of Creator and Creation Participatory art is the heartbeat of STBD, where the lines between creator and creation blur into a harmonious dance. In this nomadic space, the act of creating becomes an exploration of the self, and the self becomes a canvas for creative expression. It's a transformative process where the creator and the creation are inseparable, each influencing and shaping the other. Through participatory art, we create environments where individuals can express themselves freely, where their voices are heard, and where their creativity knows no bounds. It's a nomadic journey where the boundaries between self and art dissolve, and the act of creation becomes a profound act of self-discovery.
Playing with Empty Boxes:
An Avant-Garde Nomadic Exploration In our quest for complexity and materialism, we often overlook the beauty of simplicity. In the avant-garde practice of "playing with empty boxes," we embrace abstraction, playfulness, and practicality all at once. These seemingly ordinary containers become vessels of imagination, inviting us to rediscover the childlike wonder within us. It's a deliberate nomadic act that encourages exploration and invites participants to see the world through the eyes of a child. Pioneering Participatory Online Sessions: A Nomadic Response to a Changing World Our nomadic journey took a pivotal turn when we introduced participatory online sessions right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when online collaborative spaces were in their infancy. These sessions became a lifeline, connecting nomads from diverse backgrounds and geographies in a shared exploration of self and creativity. It was a testament to the power of nomadic collaboration and the universal human need for connection in a rapidly changing world.
Join the Nomadic Spirit of Collaborative Creation, I invite you to step into "Space to Be Different" and immerse yourself in the fusion of creator and creation, where the boundaries between self and art dissolve, and the beauty of your creative uniqueness is celebrated.
